10 Most Disappointing WWE World Title Reigns

9. Goldberg

In WCW, Goldberg entered as an unproven name before putting together a monster undefeated streak on his way to United States and World Championships. In WWE, his time could hardly have been more different.

After coming in as a major star, he did beat The Rock in his debut match but then spent the next few months languishing somewhat, facing the likes of Rosey, Rodney Mack and Steven Richards at various points. Eventually he’d find himself back in world title contention but unfortunately, the company waited had too long to pull the trigger on him.

After being screwed out of beating Triple H in the Elimination Chamber at SummerSlam 2003, he won the belt at Survivor Series, but five of his subsequent six defences took place on free TV, with two ending via disqualification and another finishing as a no contest.

Fans had wanted to see Goldberg come in and do what Goldberg does best—squash anyone and everyone in his path. And while he did that to an extent in the preceding months, the eventual reign wasn’t executed as well as many may have hoped and in the end, it left his much-anticipated title run feeling rather flat.
