Upward mobility is oftentimes elusive in the wrestling world. There are multiple factors that contribute to a successful push, including but not limited to in-ring talent, charisma, good material from creative, and the blessings of management.

Looking forward to this Sunday's WWE special event, Battleground, there are many who are way better off this year than when they appeared on the same show last year. They have found ways to move up in this business despite the highly competitive environment.

Some have captured titles. Some have gone from weak characters with no direction to having a genuine bond with the audience. One individual even left WWE entirely and his career has arguably regained the prominence it once had.

These specific wrestlers in this article should serve as the exception, not the norm. For every Xavier Woods who has risen in stature since Battleground 2014, there are a few Curtis Axels and Jack Swaggers who have slid far down the roster.

The common bond between everyone on this list is that they all appeared on the 2014 edition of Battleground. Their overall careers then are compared alongside now.

Three of the entries have been condensed into one because they all are part of the same stable. With that in mind, here are the 8 most improved wrestlers since Battleground 2014 in 8 points...

8. Sin Cara

Then: One of the early eliminations for the Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal at Battleground 2014, the Sin Cara character was still a floundering gimmick since being assumed by Hunico.

It appeared that WWE was mainly holding onto the character to milk whatever merchandise sales they received from the Sin Cara masks that they sold and it wouldn't have seemed likely that the character would've ever been utilized again. One glimmer of hope for the character was a new tag team alliance that was being formed around this time on NXT with Kalisto.

Now: The Lucha Dragons were formed in the summer of 2014 on NXT and has proven to be successful for Sin Cara. He's since won the NXT Tag Championships with Kalisto and found new life on the main roster in the tag team division.

While they aren't on the Battleground 2015 card, they seem to be the current number 2 babyface tag team on the roster. So if New Day recapture the gold this coming Sunday, Sin Cara and Kalisto could find themselves in the title hunt.
