10 Most Underappreciated Wrestling Moves

No signatures, no finishers, just manoeuvres that don't get the props they deserve.

The best wrestling moves are the signatures. Those moves that define a wrestler. Stone Cold Stunner, Figure Four Leg Lock, The Worm, those manoeuvres that are so entwined into a performer's legacy that they become synonymous with the performer. Some get lucky enough to develop several high profile moves, some of which are more unique than their closing attack.

Every high profile wrestler has a go-to move that gets very little celebration and rarely even a distinct name. Seriously, you could compile a book on those moves that deserve far more appreciation than they get, rather than being ignored by the commentary team in favour of a deep analytical look on who said what on Twitter.

The little things in wrestling are important; they are what sell the match and what sells the audience on a wrestler. Anyone can do a headlock, but with the right amount of panache a good performer can turn a headlock into the highlight of the bout.

Plenty of moves in wrestling are underrated. Some moves, however, are elevated to a higher level than the move itself would usually warrant through spectacular performance by a particular wrestler.

It's a subjective topic, your mileage may vary.

10. Sami Zayn's Arm Drags

Ricky Steamboat is the master of the arm drag. Everyone who knows wrestling knows that, this is not opinion, it's just a fact. Even Eugene knows this and he's... Eugene. The arm drag is a signature move of Ricky Steamboat, but for Sami Zayn it's just another throw.

The arm drag is a pretty basic move, especially when you consider Sami used to have a propensity for brainbusting people onto a turnbuckle. But his arm drag combo is one of the smoothest and most uniquely Sami Zayn manoeuvres in his arsenal. It's not really high impact enough to be a signature move, but it always looks great.

It's not so much the impact that really makes the move, as the two-step strut he does right before contact, like he's slipped on a banana and is taking you with him.
