It’s a changeful time in the WWE. Actually, that right there is one of the understatements of the year; the WWE is currently undergoing a radical top-to-bottom transformation.

Not only is SmackDown moving to a new timeslot on Tuesday evening’s, it’s also going to be broadcast live each week for the first time in its 17-year history. This in turn means the return of a Brand Split and a complete revising of the company’s schedule. Brand-specific performers, separate touring teams for live events, and even the reinstatement of a number of pay-per-views; it’s all going on in the WWE.

But aside from the logistical headache this presents, it also provides a great opportunity to really shake up the on-screen product. And as we look back at the results of the 2016 Draft, we can see that there are plenty of new directions for the company to pursue in both the short- and long-term future.

So with the excitement of the selection process now firmly behind us, let’s delve into the what and the why of the WWE's post-Draft plans.

10. Commentary

We’ll start with one of the more certain points, with the news that the WWE will be taking its commentary in a new direction in light of the 2016 Draft.

As announced on WWE.com, changes will be made to both brands’ announce teams. The new look Raw line-up will see Michael Cole and Byron Saxton joined by Corey Graves in place of JBL. Meanwhile, JBL will be moving back to Tuesdays—a switch that worked very well for him before—to join Mauro Ranallo and David Otunga behind the SmackDown desk.

While this new arrangement robs us of a Graves and Ranallo commentary dream team, it’s great to see Graves getting a main roster call-up.

Although, we need to bear in mind that commentating on Raw means one thing; Vince McMahon in your ear. Unfortunately, Graves may not be able to be his usual self under Vince’s watchful eye. Or ear.

And with SmackDown now going live as well, we might hear Ranallo reigning it in too, depending on Vince’s input. Not that I’m trying to be a buzzkill or anything…
