Things are about to shake up.

Over the next several months, WWE has the opportunity to create a slew of fresh main event match-ups that have never been seen before on WWE programming. It's an exciting time to be a member of the WWE Universe.

This potentially exciting journey is a far cry from this time period of recent years past. During the first half of the current decade, WWE found itself in a situation coming out of WrestleMania where the top level, main event players remained the same year-after-year, making for many rehashes of tired rivalries. Superstars like John Cena, Randy Orton, Triple H, Kane, Sheamus, Chris Jericho, and Big Show (to name a few) monopolized the WWE main event scene by wrestling each other in nearly every combination imaginable many times, making for some lackluster main events during the Summer months.

Coming out of WrestleMania in Dallas however, that routine seems about to change. In addition to the battle for running Monday Night RAW, the WWE is experiencing a shake-up at the top of the card. Whether it's recent NXT call-ups, veteran performers that are new to WWE, or legends that haven't been seen in a while, the new-look main event scene is sure to bring a feeling of rejuvenation and excitement to the promotion in the latter part of 2016.

Let's take a closer look at some of the potential main events that WWE could present to its audience over the next few months...

Who would've thought this match could've happened, on a WWE PPV no less, as recently as a year ago? It's a dream match that features two flagship performers many thought would never clash, let alone in a WWE ring.

For the former face of TNA Impact Wrestling, what opponent could be bigger for AJ than the face of WWE?

Over the next few weeks, AJ Styles could be making a slow descent towards the dark side, setting up a heel run for The Phenomenal One that could see him clash with several new opponents. And with John Cena returning in just a few weeks, it's only a matter of time until WWE's biggest superstar meets TNA's biggest superstar.

Cena will be returning on Memorial Day, and with AJ likely moving on from Roman Reigns shortly thereafter, the opportunity is there to finally see John Cena vs. AJ Styles in the middle of a WWE ring.
