10 Promising Wrestling Feuds That Ended Too Soon

Couldn't we maybe have seen Shawn Michaels and Rob Van Dam go at it, like, twice?

They fought their 4,625th match on Raw last week, and even the most ardent supporters of Charlotte and Sasha Banks are beginning to grow a little weary of seeing the two endlessly fight each other for the title to the exclusion of all others.

There are countless examples of wrestling back-and-forths that over-stayed their welcome, and longevity is by no means a prerequisite for a strong feud: Brock Lesnar and The Rock only had one match in 2002, for instance, but the story - along with The Great One's full-time WWE career - had simply reached its natural end.

But what about those flash-in-the-pan feuds that generate a bit of steam and then fizzle out with an abrupt ending? Two guys that you waited an age to see lock horns finally meeting in the ring, before swiftly moving on to new story-lines the very second the referee counts three.

Here are 10 promising feuds that ended too soon.

10. Goldberg Vs. Chris Jericho

Goldberg and Jericho may have shared one of wrestling's most infamous backstage altercations, but their feud on the screen didn't culminate the way many of us would have hoped.

A fresh-faced Y2J took on the persona of a wrestler's wrestler with a chip on his shoulder during his time in WCW. He made little attempt to hide his disdain for Goldberg, who he suggested had come into the industry with a silver spoon in his mouth, and declared victory over the unbeaten World Heavyweight Champion after he failed to answer his challenge on an episode of Thunder in 1998.

That's just it though: they never actually fought during their time in WCW, and the ship had pretty much sailed by the time they renewed acquaintances in WWE five years later.
