10 Reasons Ambrose Vs Rollins Is The New Triple H Vs Michaels

The new school are the old school.

For a year and a half, The Shield ran rampant on WWE, annihilating everything and anyone who dared to step foot in their path of destruction. The trio of Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns went unbeaten in six-man tag team action for seven straight months before finally being dethroned by the likes of Randy Orton, Daniel Bryan and Kane. They also held gold (the United States and WWE Tag Team Championships, respectively) for the better part of 2013. They were unstoppable, but it was soon made clear the only thing that could split them up was themselves. When Rollins turned on his brethren on the June 2 edition of Raw, it triggered one of the most exciting and personal rivalries in recent WWE history between himself and Dean Ambrose. The two crossed paths at Money in the Bank and Battleground before going one-on-one for the first time ever at SummerSlam in August. Although Rollins emerged victorious in that outing, their rivalry raged on. The culmination of their feud came at Hell in a Cell when Rollins defeated Ambrose with help from a returning Bray Wyatt, but even then the feud feels as if it's far from over. In many ways, it's is the modern day incarnation of the the legendary feud between Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Those two clashed countless times over the course of the Ruthless Aggression Era from 2002 to 2004 and never once did their matches become boring. The same can be said for Rollins and Ambrose, but much like the former D-Generation X members, it's better they go their separate ways for now so that their rivalry will feel fresh upon its rekindling. Although only time will tell whether Rollins and Ambrose's feud will reach the heights that HBK and HHH did, if the past few months have been any indication, it certainly has the potential to.
