The night after SummerSlam 2004, Evolution booted new world champion Randy Orton. Triple H would promptly win the title from Orton, putting the 'Legend Killer' through a rushed babyface turn that sapped much of his momentum. By Survivor Series 2004, Orton was an awkward face receiving lukewarm reactions.

Still, in a match pitting his face team against Triple H, Gene Snitsky, Edge, and Batista, the wrestlers were given more to chew on in terms of storyline, as the members of the winning team gained control of RAW for the following month. Orton, having a year's worth of experience under his belt, was a much more seasoned performer by late 2004, but his attempts at being a fiery babyface felt false and flimsy. It's no surprise that by 'Mania season the following year, he'd once again revert to his heelish ways.

However, regardless of Orton's sloppiness as a face, there's much good to be found in his second Survivor Series outing. All the heels, even Snitsky, shine brightly, with this match serving as a coming out party of-sorts for the recently-turned Edge.

Ultimately, Orton would defy the odds of a 2-1 handicap against Edge and Hunter, hitting the RKO on his former Evolution leader and racking up his Surivivor Series streak at two.
