10 Reasons Seth Rollins Is WWE's New Shawn Michaels

Rollins is the new Heartbreak Kid.

Seth Rollins has proved time and time again to be WWE's best wrestler in 2014 and 2015. As is inevitable with current greats, you always end up looking back and comparing them with the greats of the past. In the case of Seth Rollins, that has resulted in many fans highlighting similarities with Shawn Michaels. Indeed, there are several shared traits between Seth Rollins and Shawn Michaels. You could say that Rollins is this generation's Heartbreak Kid, a wrestler who is just magnificent at everything from mic skills to in-ring work. It is almost like watching Michaels at his peak, when you watch Rollins absolutely wowing the crowd on Raw or a special. Here's ten similarities between the best ever, and the best currently.

10. Critical Success, Amid Commercial Decline

A similarity that Rollins and Michaels will feel less happy about, is the fact that Raw ratings collapsed in their first year as WWE Champion. Way back in 1996, Michaels won the belt at WrestleMania 12. Fast forward to 2015, and Seth Rollins won the belt at WrestleMania 31. What followed for both men, was a period of fantastic matches. However, Raw viewership and pay per view buys plummeted with Michaels as Champion. Likewise, Raw viewership has been worryingly low under Rollins' reign, and Network subscriptions haven't exactly boomed. The difference is that the Champion isn't expected to be the main attraction now like he was in Michaels' era. It sent HBK crazy that business dropped off with his reign, whereas Rollins has simply got on with his job. No matter what the business numbers are or were, at least both men can say they delivered in the ring.
