10 Reasons The Shield Will Inevitably Reform In 2015

The fans want it, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns need it: if the Shield reforms, everyone wins.

D-Generation X, the Four Horsemen, New World Order, Evolution: while tag teams make up a considerable part of the backbone that is professional wrestling, factions like these have always received consistent attention due to sheer numbers alone. A stable has so much more appeal because some of its members can wrestle as a tag team while still working for the better interest of the group. However, it seems like in recent years that WWE has moved away from factions. If any Superstars link up, it tends to only be in a tag team fashion. While The Wyatt Family and Nexus made short-term impressions, The Shield was arguably WWE's last great faction, and when it disintegrated in 2014, so too did any hopes of stables making a comeback. At the time, there were no other groups suitable for The Shield to feud with, which is why members Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns would often branch off into tag team wrestling. Although The Shield and The Authority had worked harmoniously together, this was in the early stages of Triple H's group of corporate cronies. Once just the official name for the iron fist in which Stephanie McMahon and her husband Triple H use to rule the WWE, The Authority has since expanded to include Rollins, J&J Security, Kane, and sometimes other temporary additions. WWE has a lot of heels in prime positions, especially considering Rollins' current role as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The Shield, although largely intended to be a heel faction, has always been a huge fan favorite. With Ambrose, Rollins, and Reigns running free for nearly a year and making individual impacts across the WWE, it seems quite obvious that in the case of The Shield, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. WWE may want to reconsider its decision in breaking up this group...
