10 Reasons Triple H Just Won WWE Royal Rumble 2016

The old Triple H returns with his backstage politics.

Triple H winning the WWE Title in the Royal Rumble was expected, and in the end, it was executed in entertaining fashion. However, the reasons behind the title switch are far more complicated than WWE simply wanting Roman Reigns to chase a heel champion at WrestleMania. It is more a case of backstage politics, the likes of which Triple H was famed for during his peak 2002-2004 run. There are other factors as well, which contributed to The Game making his case for getting the WWE Championship and WrestleMania 32 main event slot. With his father-in-law running the company, there was little doubt that he'd get what he wanted. But this isn't to knock Triple H too much. He's great in the ring and fantastic on the mic. But in 2016 does he really deserve to be WWE Champion and the WrestleMania main evener? The forty six year old has only wrestled one match in the last year. There's bound to be wrestlers in the WWE locker room right now who feel like he doesn't really deserve the championship spot. What this feels like is a trip back in time, to a much loathed version of Triple H. He even beat on Chris Jericho en route to his Rumble win, in scenes reminiscent of the way he used to bury Jericho sixteen years ago...
