10 Shortest WWE Championship Reigns

Blink and you'll miss them.

Shinsuke Nakamura Vs Samoa Joe

By now, you've probably seen that Shinsuke Nakamura regained the NXT title from Samoa Joe; a mere 14 days after Joe himself had won it back from Nakamura.

While such a short championship reign is a new occurrence in NXT, in the wider WWE system, the company is no stranger to hot-shotting titles in a matter of days, hours, or even minutes.

So while Samoa Joe may feel slightly hard done by to have dropped the title so soon, compared to these 10 WWE title reigns, two weeks seems positively lengthy.

10. The Rock, Batista: 2 Days

While the likes of The Undertaker (6 days), Mr McMahon (4 days) and Bob Backlund (3 days) all came close to making the top ten, it's current sexiest man alive Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson who gets this list started.

Back in 1999, The Rock was in his 'Corporate Champion' phase and engulfed in a feud with Mankind (Mick Foley). The two traded the WWE title back and forth; after Mankind had captured the championship in an emotional moment on Raw, he dropped it back to Rocky at the Royal Rumble in their infamous I Quit match in which Foley took 11 unprotected chair shots to the head with his hands handcuffed behind his back.

Two days later though, Mankind regained the title from The Rock in an Empty Arena match at Halftime Heat during the Super Bowl halftime show. Mankind held the WWE title for just 20 days before dropping it back to The Rock once again.

In Batista's case, however, he'd been set for a lengthier reign. Unfortunately, after he captured the title from Randy Orton inside a steel cage at Extreme Rules in 2009, 'The Animal' was forced to vacate the championship due to a torn bicep suffered during the match.

Batista was written out of the storylines on Raw following a brutal attack by Legacy, while Orton claimed on screen credit for Batista's departure. Batista returned four months later to get his revenge on young Randall, before turning heel shortly after. Who knows what WWE had planned for Batista's original title reign had he not got injured.
