10 Superstars Who Stole World Title Belts

One title was stolen for two decades, and that's not even #1...

At Elimination Chamber, the WWE World Heavyweight Title match had the kind of finish that makes fans groan so hard that they're in danger of rupturing their spleens. Dean Ambrose was diving from the top turnbuckle onto Seth Rollins, who pulled the referee into harm's way instead. While the ref was nursing his boo-boo on the outside, Ambrose hit Rollins with Dirty Deeds and covered him, a new referee rushing to the ring to count the 1-2-3. Ambrose won the WWE World Heavyweight Title for two minutes, during which the internet exploded. Of course it was not to be, and in a booking decision that would make Dusty Rhodes proud, the original ref ruled that Rollins was disqualified for attacking him, meaning that while Ambrose won the match by DQ, he didn't win the belt. Ambrose thought, 'well knackers to that' and announced that, since he won the match, he was keeping the belt and made off through the crowd. This marks the second time in only a few months that the Lunatic Fringe has exercised a five-finger discount with WWE gold, and it's quite the upgrade from the IC title he nicked back in February. If WWE want to continue this trend he's going to have to steal a Hall of Fame ring next. Of course, Ambrose isn't the first man to (kayfabe) steal a belt from another wrestler. Jeff Jarrett stole Ric Flair's US title, Jake 'The Snake' Roberts squirrelled away Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Championship and pretty much everyone had a turn walking off with the IC title in the lead-up to this year's Wrestlemania. But what about the big belts? How many times have wrestlers had the gumption to steal a World Title?
