10 Superstars WWE Tried To Push In 2017 (But Failed Miserably)

9. Kane

20 years removed from his WWE debut, Kane currently finds himself in contention for the Universal Championship. He is doing something right, or the company is doing something very, very wrong.

Surely, it's the latter.

Kane has made the most of any situation he has found himself in since 1997, but it's hard to take the dude seriously when he was last seen on SmackDown Live losing to Bray Wyatt. Almost exactly a year later, he randomly returned to Raw and targeted The Shield and Braun Strowman. Yes, Kane vs. Strowman is the feud we never knew we wanted...because we don't want it, and no one ever has. Not ever.

Kane should have had a similar 2017 to Big Show, where he popped up every once and a while and helped put over young talent. However, who did Kane's comeback really benefit last year? If anything, it did damage to the rest of the roster, especially Finn Balor.

The Big Red Monster will unquestionably wind up in the WWE Hall of Fame one day, but there was no reason, at all, for him to be a main event player in the year 2017.
