10 Things In WWE You Wouldn't Have Believed A Year Ago

Time makes fools of us all.

A year’s a long time in wrestling. For all the product sometimes feels like it's dragging a bit you can still see entire careers start, flourish and end in just 12 months. Mohammed Hussan, Big Poppa Pump, Austin Aries; if you’d taken just a year off watching WWE you’d have missed them entirely.

The fact is the company is constantly in a state of either evolution or regression depending on how kind you’re feeling. While we witness each change gradually happening when you take them as a whole it’s well… huge.

In fact, if we rewind to one year ago today I mean not only would I not be allowed to present this video, but fans of Vinnie Mac’s Big Oily Men Shack would never have predicted how things would turn out.

10. There’s No Tag Division

Starting fast and loose here because obviously there *is* a tag division but in the last 12 months the company has proved to everyone that they’re fundamentally not interested in it. Teams either get buried, split up, or left to rot.

This time last year we had The Hardyz and the Bar having a great fued, the Usos and the New Day routinely putting on great matches, Gallows and Anderson looked good, The Revival were on TV, American Alpha hadn’t split up and, thanks to the Fashion Files, Breezango were over as all hell.

Come April, all of these were effectively jobbed out to a child. Again, it is obviously more nuanced than that (and I did actually like the whole Nicholas thing) but that's what it boiled down to. They have an embarrassment of riches at their disposal in that tag division but they just do not want to use them.
