10 Things That Made Us Embarrassed To Be Wrestling Fans In 2017

8. Whose Life Is It Anyway

A segment so bad that poor Alexa Bliss was verbally admonished for it by Kurt Angle the following week, a 'This Is Your Life' tribute to Bayley from the Woman's Champion didn't so much go off the rails as it did try and drive a bus instead of a train down the track in the first place.

A turgid example of WWE's laboured spin on black comedy, Bliss played interviewer to a cavalcade of bad actors portraying caricature versions of Bayley's childhood best friend, ex-boyfriend and favourite schoolteacher. It was never made clear if Bliss had employed them as actors to antagonise 'The Hugger', but she was ripped off if so.

Weirdest of all was the persistent reference to her close relationship with her Father. It kept going there. And going there. And going there. As Vince McMahon will himself until he finally gets that wretched incest angle he blatantly still craves. Bayley didn't sell the caustic recollections as if they were real, but then perhaps she was too distracted remembering the promising career she once had in front of her.

What on earth were WWE thinking with it all? Whatever it was, it wasn't of Bayley's immediate future. Or, ironically, her past.
