Somehow, someway, the New Japan Pro Wrestling train continues to hurtle forward.

2017 saw the promotion make international moves in the shape of shows in Long Beach, USA, with a further, bigger show planned in the United States for 2018. The company continued to make new stars, with Juice Robinson and EVIL just two of the new standouts. To top it all off, the in-ring product was head and shoulders above everything else.

NJPW is in a very enviable position, but that isn’t to say that everything is perfect heading into the new year and Wrestle Kingdom 12. There are plenty of areas in which the King of Sports can improve in 2018, especially with international domination in mind.

New Japan doesn’t need to do anything when it comes to the actual wrestling, but there are a few things that continue to infuriate fans across the globe. 2018 could be a monumental year for the company, and certain things must happen for Vince McMahon to truly begin quaking in his boots.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
