10 Things That Would Be Happening In WWE If Fans Could Vote

Professional wrestling and politics have gone hand in hand for years. Stories like Bob Backlund’s kayfabe presidential campaign and Jack Swagger’s “we, the people” gimmick have brought these two chaotic worlds together, and it extends backstage too. Linda McMahon, Antonio Inoki, Jesse Ventura, and a horde of other wrestling personalities have involved themselves in the political machine, and the next President of the United States of America is a WWE Hall-of-Famer.

Wrestling is far from democratic, however. While politicians are supposedly elected to represent the needs of the people at governmental level, WWE are a closed shop. Your voting rights ensure your voice counts in politics, but WWE rarely listen to the people, and it’s one of the biggest failings in recent years.

It’s often said that the company’s executives are out of touch with their viewers. They’ll throw out the odd fan poll every now and then, but even those are highly questionable, and even in this era of unparalleled transparency, WWE rarely open up to their core audience.

But what if fans got their wish? What if WWE abandoned all their capitalist principles and let their fans vote on all major decisions? Would it lead the industry to greater success, or further into the muck? What would the company look like, and how would things differ from the current product?

Here are 10 things that would be happening in WWE if fans could vote.

Many fans view Cesaro as one of the most under-pushed wrestlers in recent WWE history. As far as pure wrestling ability goes, he’s one of the absolute best in the world, and a versatile technician who can match anyone’s style, and could likely have a great match with a kendo stick. He’s a man of few weaknesses in the ring, and his well-rounded skillset and creativity make him a joy to watch every single time.

His problems lie on the microphone, and Vince McMahon’s infamous “brass ring” comment made it abundantly clear that Cesaro will never be a main eventer under his reign. That hasn’t stemmed enthusiasm levels, however, and while the Cesaro Section isn’t as powerful as the Yes! Movement was, fans still clamour for Cesaro’s push, such is the strength of his in-ring performances.

Dozens of talented, under-pushed workers would climb the ranks if the fans were given a say, but few would be given a bigger push than Cesaro. The Swiss Superman would shoot towards Universal Championship contendership almost immediately, and would continue his record of excellent matches but at the sport’s highest level. As soon as the ballot for WWE’s next big main eventer went out, Cesaro’s name would be first on many fans’ lists.
