10 Things We Know About CM Punk's UFC Opponent

10. He Was A Solid High School Athlete & Has Trained In Martial Arts Since His Teens

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=910uP4DzXU8 It has been noted that CM Punk doesn't have much of a sports or martial arts background to fall back on in his MMA venture. He has years in pro wrestling, of course, and ample stamina and heart as a result, but as an athlete? Not so much, historically. Mickey Gall, on the other hand, was captain of his high school football team - and a solid linebacker for Watchung Hills High School in Warren, NJ. Then, at age sixteen, he showed an interest in fighting. He told his dad he wanted to try out jiu-jitsu, and his dad made it happen. Joining his school wrestling team as a senior, he was also training at gyms owned by Jim and Dan Miller - both notable fighters themselves in the UFC. College came around, and Gall chose Rutgers with his training in mind. He has maintained the same coaches, same regimen all through. That means he has been training for his UFC career, literally, for years.
