9. It Was Never Their Plan To Team On The Independent Scene

The names Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been linked together ever since the days they went by Kevin Steen and El Generico on the indy scene. They've always travelled together and pushed one another to be better, but it was never their plan to actually team together. That's on various promoters.

Owens and Zayn never thought they'd become a tag-team, it just sort of happened. As they were driving to shows in the same car anyway, promoters often put them in tag matches and that's when both realised they had great chemistry. Still, it wasn't until they reached ROH that the then-Steen and Generico took things seriously.

As soon as they were in the door there, both set a goal for themselves to become Tag-Team Champions and really went for it. That synergy Owens and Zayn have experienced their entire careers continued in WWE; there's a good chance they'll be SmackDown Tag Champs at some point in 2018. Not bad for 2 guys who didn't plan on teaming.
