WWE, like any touring business, love when advertisers and sponsors throw cash into company coffers so their brand is represented on television or at live events. This is a huge money-making stream for WWE, but it's nowhere near as big as they'd like it to be.

It's also less than half of what UFC takes in.

According to the Variety article, WWE draw around $25 million annually for sponsorships. Obviously, that's a healthy amount, and it did contribute to the whopping $930 million of revenue the promotion gleaned in 2018. Still, McMahon must be disappointed that his family-friendly outlet haven't been able to outmuscle the uber-violent UFC.

The MMA league take in approx $60 million in sponsorship cash. That $35 million difference is one WWE surely hope to close, and fast. Every PR stunt they pull, like Braun Strowman pitching for the Houston Astros, is supposed to help with this strategy of pulling in new sponsors.
