10 Things We Learned From WWE 24: Finn Bálor

9. Triple H Is Human After All

He’s not on television at the moment, but Triple H spends most of the year playing the face of Vince McMahon’s soulless corporate enterprise. 'The Game’ and his wife Stephanie will likely take the keys when the Chairman steps down, and while his work with NXT has earned significant praise among some sections of the fanbase, others will always see him as a boogeyman.

This is understandable, as Triple H’s on-air persona is one of the worst human beings on the planet. The beauty of these documentaries is the way they’re able to pull the curtain away and humanise even the most dastardly wrestling villains, however, and that’s exactly what happened in this edition of 24.

As Finn relinquished his newly-won Universal Championship on Monday Night Raw, the cameras cut backstage, where Hunter was watching on a monitor. As Sami Zayn described the moment as “heart-wrenching,” Triple H was caught shedding a few tears as one of his own developmental signings let go of the prize he’d worked long and hard for.

Bálor's darkest night clearly took a huge, emotional toll on everyone, including his boss.
