10 Things WWE Can Learn From Game Of Thrones

HBO's most popular show of all time has a thing or two to teach the biggest wrestling promotion in the world.

WWE is many things: a publically traded multimedia conglomerate; a family business; a professional wrestling promotion; a live events juggernaut; a movie studio; a touchstone of popular culture. It€™s also a collection of television shows broadcast on basic cable and online, viewed by millions of people worldwide every week. As a huge corporation, WWE still needs to polish its public image to look like it belongs with the big boys. As a professional wrestling promotion, it can be argued that it doesn€™t even hold a candle to its own developmental brand. As a television show, it€™s got world class production values, a rabid fanbase, and serious market penetration, more so than any competing wrestling programming€ but can it compare to other hit television shows that aren€™t sports entertainment showcases? Since 2011, HBO€™s Game Of Thrones has been one of the biggest shows on earth, and it€™s only gotten bigger. It€™s made George R.R. Martin€™s brutal, bloodythirsty fantasy doorstops A Song Of Ice And Fire massive mainstream bestsellers, and many of its characters and key moments have become part of the pop culture conversation. In crossover terms, it€™s essentially everything that Vince McMahon would want for Monday Night RAW: it€™s the WWF, during the height of the Attitude Era. So are there any pointers that WWE can pick up from HBO€™s flagship behemoth - aside from bringing in dragons (hey, I€™m still pulling for the return of the American Dragon when - if - Daniel Bryan gets the all-clear)? Well, it€™s funny you should ask...
