WWE has actually come out with some pretty interesting vignettes over the past few years. Most notably would be The Wyatt Family introduction videos, as well as some follow-ups they’ve done at their compound.

And then, they've produced work like The Shining Stars, which bore you within seconds, and yet you have to watch it for months. Currently there’s Darren Young and Bob Backlund...doing whatever it is they’re doing, and that's about it.

Over in Lucha Underground, we’re introduced to the characters in far more compelling ways. We immediately are given a sense of who the wrestlers are, and what they want to accomplish. Mil Muertes was nearly killed in an earthquake in his youth, and no longer fears death.

Killshot escaped from an enemy camp in the Middle East, and was the only member of his unit to come back home alive. And Joey Ryan is an undercover cop who has entered The Temple to dig up some evidence on Dario Cueto. That's just three examples.

WWE wouldn’t have to be as fantastical with their vignettes for their talent, but they could still stand to make them a lot more interesting than two guys walking on the beach in Puerto Rico.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
