Lynch originally debuted as a generic Irish babyface, the kind of gimmick that never gets anyone very far before it needs to be changed. After she turned on her then-friend Bayley and teamed up with Banks, Lynch started flashing devil horns and swinging her hair in circles, which was apparently meant to signify her new heel character. The headbanger chick gimmick, however, doesn't extend past her entrance; in informs neither her in-ring style nor her backstage interviews. In truth, Lynch's gimmick is simply that she's a bad-ass. The headbanging serves to immediately inform viewers that she's more tomboy than supermodel, but it's an aesthetic, not a character, and as a result, Lynch's character is instead a product of her work between the ropes. And between the ropes, Becky Lynch is experienced, efficient, and dangerous.
