That's gotta be Cain!

The past week's unprecedented Wrestlepalooza concluded in dramatic fashion, as SmackDown's huge premiere on FOX closed proceedings with a very special surprise guest laying out brand new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar in humiliating fashion.

For those in the know - and quite a few besides - the identity of said guest was readily apparent.

Others will have been left scratching their head over just who this big fella with the tattoo scrawled across his chest was, and why he had the upper hand on Brock Lesnar of all people.

By now, even those out the loop will be au fait with the basics. The Beast's interloper was none other than Cain Velasquez, a former two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion and overall badass. That brief description alone tells you all you need to know about why his appearance - and penned match at the upcoming Crown Jewel - is such a big deal.

But who is he really? Is there anything to suggest he'll be any good at this wrestling gig (hint: there is), do he and Brock have some sort of history we should know about, and what exactly is the meaning of that interesting ink?

10. He Has Beat Brock Lesnar Before

Brock Lesnar and Cain Velasquez are scheduled to rampage like rhinos in the squared circle for the first time come the second annual Crown Jewel at the end of this month, but they are no strangers to one another in a competitive environment.

Nine years ago, at UFC 121, Cain creamed The Beast - then sporting a right b*stard beard - to take his UFC Heavyweight Championship. The sub-five minute TKO won match of the night, and effectively ended Brock's stint at the top of the MMA pyramid.

It should be noted that this was the show famously attended by The Undertaker - perhaps Lesnar was spooked by the spectre of The Phenom? Pity about him: 'Taker will definitely be in attendance in Saudi Arabia as well.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
