There has been a lot to like in WWE in 2016. An influx of young talent has seen fresh faces in the main event scene, as the brand split opened up new spots for a horde of performers hungry to grab them. Men and women such as Kevin Owens, Becky Lynch, and AJ Styles can look back on the year with a whole lot of pride.

The sheer amount of content that the WWE churns out on a weekly basis guarantees some low-points however, and 2016 featured more than its fair share of these. In fact, looking back at the year throws up more than one would hope, with a whole host of moves that left even the most enthralled fan scratching their head.

Has it been a good year? On the whole, yes. Every single PPV has come with at least one standout match, a run of consistency that WWE has never truly seen before. But likewise, pretty much every show has come with less than stellar moments, with some of the most popular stars sat twiddling their thumbs in the process.

WWE got a lot of things wrong in 2016, but these 10 missteps stand out. Here's hoping that 2017 sees the company learn from the mistakes of the past, but if there's one thing we've learnt from history it is that we don't learn from history.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
