They don't always use them correctly, but it's clear that someone in the WWE hierarchy actually cares about the state of its tag team division. Why else would they have signed the likes of War Machine, and before that The Authors of Pain?

Compare this to about 10 years ago, when the tag ranks on Raw and SmackDown were populated by nothing teams like Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch, Deuce 'n' Domino and Jesse & Festus, and it's a massive improvement.

But it's kind of a travesty that it took them so long to realise that there is a market for two-on-two competition. For a brief time, we reached the point where it was rare if even one of the tag title belts was defended on pay-per-view.

You wonder how many promising two-pieces from the independent scene might have missed out an opportunity in the big leagues as a result. The Young Bucks for a start.
