10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE Champion Daniel Bryan

9. RANDOM FACT: At The Age Of 15, Daniel Bryan Saved Up For Wrestling School By Working At McDonalds...

Bryan Danielson At age 15, most young men have no idea what they want out of life (well, besides the one thing that all teenage boys want, of course). Bryan Danielson, however, was a little bit different. Even at such a tender age, he wanted to be a pro wrestler so badly, that the future vegan took a job at McDonalds just so he could save up for his wrestling education. While his peers were ploughing their money into beers, parties and hastily conceived haircuts, Bryan Danielson was putting a down payment on a lifelong dream. Too young to flip burgers, Danielson's jobs included sweeping the restaurant's floors and mopping up the notoriously greasy prep areas. With this hard-earned (and meticulously accumulated) wealth, Danielson was able to put down a $500 deposit for lessons at Dean Malenko's wrestling school. Malenko was Danielson's idol, his all-time favourite wrestler, so it came as a doubly crushing blow when a) The school closed And b) He never saw his money again. For many, this would be enough to turn them away from professional wrestling and towards a more 'stable' career. If Danielson's wrestling hero, an established TV star and son of another famous wrestler (Dean is the son of Boris Malenko) couldn't even keep a school open, then what chance did he have of making it to the WWE (or anywhere else for that matter)? Fortunately, Bryan Danielson, much like the character he portrays on TV every week, is no quitter.

I am a professional author and lifelong comic books/pro wrestling fan. I also work as a journalist as well as writing comic books (I also draw), screenplays, stage plays, songs and prose fiction. I don't generally read or reply to comments here on What Culture (too many trolls!), but if you follow my Twitter (@heyquicksilver), I'll talk to you all day long! If you are interested in reading more of my stuff, you can find it on http://quicksilverstories.weebly.com/ (my personal site, which has other wrestling/comics/pop culture stuff on it). I also write for FLiCK http://www.flickonline.co.uk/flicktion, which is the best place to read my fiction work. Oh yeah - I'm about to become a Dad for the first time, so if my stuff seems more sentimental than usual - blame it on that! Finally, I sincerely appreciate every single read I get. So if you're reading this, thank you, you've made me feel like Shakespeare for a day! (see what I mean?) Latcho Drom, - CQ
