10 Times WWE Gave Fans False Hope

The lesson is: never get invested in anything, ever.

Daniel Bryan is set to face Roman Reigns at Fast Lane on February 22nd with Reigns' WrestleMania main event title shot is on the line. Fans, the majority of whom clearly want to see Bryan versus Lesnar at 'Mania, are understandably getting their hopes up. In their minds, there is now hope that Bryan could find himself in the main event, a position that he has earned and deserves. But should fans really be getting their hopes up here? Realistically, what are the odds of Bryan beating Reigns and replacing him in the main event of the biggest show of the year? Hasn't WWE built up our hopes before, only to send us crashing back down to reality? Of course they have, and the smart money suggests that Reigns is going to leave Fast Lane with his title shot intact. WWE likes to toy with fans' emotions and there have been many instances of WWE giving their audience hope that something is going to happen when, invariably, it doesn't. False hope is just part and parcel of being a wrestling fan. From reviving brands and bungling feuds to teasing comebacks, WWE has a history of getting our attention, interest and (crucially) money only turn around and flip us the bird. Putting smiles on faces? Well, not exactly.
