10 Underrated WWE Champions

10 former champions who haven't gotten their due for the dignity they gave their belts.

World Wrestling Entertainment history is ripe with great champions. Their accomplishments have been touted in DVD and home video releases, in print formats and on the company's revolutionary WWE Network (available for the low, low price of $9.99). They are the subjects of documentaries and autobiographies and are invited back to Raw and SmackDown every so often as a reminder of Vince McMahon's star-making prowess. Most importantly, they are industry icons, those Superstars who have taken their rightful places among the immortals in the Hall of Fame. There are those champions, on the other hand, that had quality title reigns or brought something of importance to a specific championship that, for whatever reason, have gone underrated over time. They are champions who delivered in the ring, brought prestige to the titles they held and served as the centerpiece of their given division. Whether they reigned over the midcard, the Divas division or the now-defunct hardcore division, these champions carved out legacies for themselves that will one day, hopefully, earn them the recognition they deserve. Until then, celebrate 10 of WWE's most underrated champions by clicking the "next" button, located conveniently to your right.

Erik Beaston is a freelance pro wrestling writer who likes long walks in the park, dandelions and has not quite figured out that this introduction is not for Match.com. He resides in Parts Unknown, where he hosts weekly cookouts with Kane, The Ultimate Warrior, Papa Shango and The Boogeyman. Be jealous.
