10 Ways TNA/Impact Was Great For The Wrestling Business

They really have left an "Impact".

TNA has essentially become the Byron Saxton of wrestling promotions: They’re the constant punching bag from the community who only ever allow a few glimmers of light to shine through the eternal darkness.

In many senses, TNA deserves this reputation. The business decisions are some of the worst in not just wrestling, but company-running history. They've suffered from creative failures, bad booking, stolen material, relying on veterans, and Dixie Carter... especially Dixie Carter. That's the picture perfect definition of someone under-qualified being handed the entire world.

This doesn't mean it's all been for the worse though. As we mentioned, TNA does occasionally allow glimmers of hopeful light through the darkness. Between some of their fantastic talent, a few of their superb storylines, and some genuinely surprising business decisions, TNA has managed to come out looking like winners on a few occasions.

10. 'Weird' Wrestling

Professional wrestling, as a concept, is admittedly a bit strange. At its surface, it's just people choreographing physical and sometimes acrobatic moves to simulate fighting. We can all admit that pro wrestling is at least a little bit weird. Because of this, it's good for the sport to never try taking itself too seriously.

Don't get us wrong, take it a bit seriously. Make great matches, give us worthy champions, book storylines we can get invested in; just don't scrape the fun away from it.

TNA might've done this better than any other company in the pro wrestling scene. Do we really have to elaborate any further past 'Broken' Matt Hardy?

With proper execution, the weirder elements of professional wrestling can excel into something genius. Of course, sometimes the typical writers aren't able to handle this as well as the wrestlers themselves (remember the House of Horrors match?), and that's why the next entry on this list is just as important...
