Diamond Dallas Page and Rick Rude's names hit the rumour mill before him, but Kurt Angle is the first man to be officially unveiled as a 2017 WWE Hall of Fame inductee. As a four-time WWE Champion and one of the best technical wrestlers of his generation, Angle has more than earned his place in the Hall, and he'll likely be inducted as this year's headliner.

Kurt left WWE in 2006, and while he hasn't always been on the best of terms with the company since then, his return has always been high on many a fan's wishlist. Now, with Kurt set to become a Hall of Famer on April 1st, his WWE return is finally on the table, even if we don't know what form it will take.

Now that Kurt is officially back in WWE, it's time for the speculation to kick into overdrive. Fantasy bookers are going to drive themselves nuts over the coming weeks and months, but the American Hero's return will be well received no matter how it transpires.

There's next to no chance of Kurt ever wrestling for WWE on a full-time basis again, but that doesn't mean WWE won't work him back onto television. Even if he never steps foot in a WWE again, there are a number of compelling non-wrestling roles available for Angle, whose incredible versatility as a performer leaves WWE's writers with a wealth of suitable options.

Here are 10 ways to book Kurt Angle's WWE return.

10. Hall Of Fame Only

Kurt Angle became the first name to be announced as part of the WWE Hall Of Fame’s Class of 2017 yesterday. Rumours suggest that he’ll soon be followed by the likes of Diamond Dallas Page, Rick Rude, and William Regal, but regardless of who else joins him, Kurt will likely stand as this year’s headliner, and it’s an overdue honour.

As great as it was to hear of Kurt’s imminent induction, restricting him solely to this year’s HOF ceremony would be the most disappointing way WWE could book his comeback. Fans have been waiting for his return from the moment he left WWE in 2006, and it has only intensified in recent years. For him to eventually return as an inductee only would be a huge letdown, and a real misuse of his talents.

WWE’s announcement was very telling in its use of the past tense, stating that Angle’s “wrestling ability was unparalleled,” and referring to his “storied career” like it’s already over. This suggests that WWE aren’t even considering using him for an in-ring role, but regardless, Kurt still has plenty to offer as a performer. Whether inside the ring or out, he’s somebody fans have been waiting years to see on their screens again, and it’d be a shame if his comeback was a one and done.
