One of the few angles that actually served as a summertime distraction in a disastrous 2007 post-Chris Benoit, Matt Hardy and MVP's uneasy friendship made exceptional use of their most obvious character traits, even when neither of them could stay fit to continue the angle.

Snakebit like just about everything else in the organisation at the time, the programme threatened to collapse under the broken bones and aching limbs of the duo, but some traditionally silly stalling tactics actually worked in extending the inevitable payoff.

Free-throw competitions, pizza eating contests and even a boxing match pitting Matt Hardy against Evander Holyfield were all deployed to drag out their summer tag title reign, before a blistering conclusion came when the pair lost both their titles and their rematch in back-to-back defeats to the red hot Miz & Morrison combo.

It was then MVP struck. Mistrust had gradually dissolved just enough between the pair that fans bought into the friendship too. With Matt needing legitimate time away to heal, Porter pulled the trigger with a blatant and brutal attack. Nothing about them seemed to fit together, yet fans were heartbroken when they were finally fell apart.
