10 Wild Outside Bets To Win WWE Royal Rumble 2020

Anything can happen in the World Wrestling Federation!

This list is focused on the men's match because it's Roman Reigns, isn't it?

The Women's match is wide open at time of writing, rendering an analogue list quite pointless.

Roman Reigns is most likely to win the Royal Rumble because, after six years, the timing, finally, is right. It wasn't right in 2015 because Daniel Bryan's return represented a gaping open goal, which of course compelled WWE to sprint to the other side of the pitch and fire it into their own net with the spectacular idiocy of Tony Popovic. The timing wasn't right in 2016, either, for Roman's second big WrestleMania push; the ire towards him had only intensified, which Triple H didn't help by crotch-chopping in the build and boring the sh*t out of everybody in the match.

Nor was the timing right in 2017, the year in which WWE contrived to make Roman even less popular by having him "retire" the Undertaker. He made the WrestleMania main event in 2018 under the foolproof and not at all insane "They'll boo him at the Rumble, but not at Elimination Chamber" scheme.

The Roman Reigns of 2019 is different - he is popular, and sympathetic for genuinely heroic reasons - and he will win the men's Royal Rumble match accordingly.

Unless...

10. Brock Lesnar

This can't happen...can it?

As of last night's Monday Night RAW, Brock Lesnar announced himself for the Royal Rumble - in the number one slot - as WWE Heavyweight Champion. This is in character, but it also isn't. This development is consistent with his arrogance, but why would the mercenary willingly, unnecessarily work a longer match? There's no way he's going an hour in Tampa, unless, of course, Triple H once more distorts the space/time continuum by going "24 minutes".

The ramifications weren't fully explained - is he gunning for the Universal Championship? - but it's an intriguing hook to the match that should, if handled correctly, make for an epic showdown/elimination moment as a means of setting up his WrestleMania 36 opponent.

"If handled correctly."

Well.

Knowing WWE, this will likely manifest as a series of eliminations designed expressly to piss off your hardcore sensibilities, as Shorty G, Andrade, and Cesaro are German suplex'd over the top rope and into oblivion.

Enter Cain Velasquez to save the day, and build towards a rubber match to settle the two bouts that wrestling fans didn't watch/forgot even happened.
