10 Worst Wrestling Gimmick Matches Of All Time

Send your complaints directly to Vince Russo for the majority of these.

For every great gimmick match we enjoy in professional wrestling such as the Hell in a Cell match, Elimination Chamber or a TLC match, there are double the amount of awful ideas for stipulation matches which somehow made it out of a creative meeting, into the ring and in front of a live audience. Gimmick matches are created for a variety of reasons; sometimes to enhance an individual€™s character, to play into a particular storyline or to boost ratings and spice things up a bit. Sometimes, these gimmick matches are made a success by the talent in the match, for example the TLC match was made famous by The Hardy€™s, The Dudley€™s and Edge and Christian. Saying this, the TLC match was an exciting concept while others make no sense and actually make a normal singles match seem like an exhilarating prospect. All the talent in the world could not get some of the matches you are going to see on this list over. Pay special attention to the continued efforts of Vince Russo and TNA in this list while WCW and WWE also have their fair share of idiotic moments. The irony behind some of the most failed attempts at gimmick matches is the vast amount of money they cost to produce yet how limited they made the match for those competing and watching. Unless a particular gimmick fits in with a storyline, for example an inferno match between Undertaker and Kane, then there is nothing intriguing about it to sacrifice the flow of a normal match. If only some of these bookers knew that. Brace yourselves for the 10 worst gimmick matches of all time.
