10 Worst Wrestling PPV Concepts Ever

4. WCW Battle Bowl

Admittedly, WCW deserve some credit for trying something different with the Battlebowl idea, but it was poorly executed. The concept was simple, tag-teams would be "randomly" drawn together, creating scenarios where rivals had to work alongside one another in order to advance into the big Battlebowl Battle Royal in the main event slot. Only winning teams would advance, which would - in theory anyway - throw up all sort of intriguing bouts where babyfaces and heels had to learn how to work as a tag-team. This wasn't the first time WCW had tried something like this, the concept had been used before at Starrcade in 1991 and 1992. It didn't work too great then, so it was a pretty dumb move to imagine it'd work as a standalone Pay-Per-View. Fans were mightily confused by all the information being thrown at them, and matches such as Brian Knobs and Johnny B. Badd vs. Erik Watts and Paul Roma did nothing for the show. The idea of the Battlebowl would be reworked for Slamboree in 1996, renamed the Lord Of The Ring battle royal, but it was still the same lame-brained madness.
