Professional wrestlers have a hard life by and large, and it€™s not a charmed one. Watch any WWE pay-per-view from fifteen years or more ago, and it€™s likely you€™ll be watching a card half-full of wrestlers who are sadly no longer with us. Drugs, heart attacks, drugs, suicide, more drugs €“ the ways in which they€™ve bowed out are like a checklist of human tragedy. But there€™s something perverse about the accidents while travelling. Wrestlers spend so much of their time on the road or in the air travelling from show to show, it€™s a miracle it doesn€™t happen more often€ but when it does, it€™s unutterably sad, in a way that more human tragedies like overdoses just can€™t match. And then there€™s the lucky ones, the ones that escaped death by the skin of their teeth, or who were lucky that their injuries weren€™t more severe€ although they may not always have felt that way. Some of them went on to phenomenal success afterwards, while others€ well, their accidents would derail promising careers, bringing an end to their dreams of superstardom.
