10 Wrestlers Who Broke The Muta Scale

9. Necro Butcher

In which the point was sort of missed. The violence wasn't merely implied; it was real.

The infamous IWA: Mid South Samoa Joe Vs. Necro Butcher war was, in a word, disgusting; punishment glutton Butcher obviously instructed Joe to not hold back. Absorbing a brutal - nay, real - beating was his act, which explains the stomach-churning enzuigiri in the opening melee. The audible thwack of a hand slapping a knee was noticeably absent; Joe connected firmly with the back of Butcher's head. Butcher proceeded to blade immediately, following which Joe opened the cut with a sick succession of shoot headbutts. After more building-wide brawling, Joe spiked Butcher's neck with a gruesome exploder suplex from apron to exposed concrete and brained him with a crown-first, unprotected chair shot. He didn't do this to massage the wound; he did it because the Butcher is a total lunatic. Brained is the operative word; Butcher's actual matter seemed to lubricate the floor. This was a battle fought between a sadist and a masochist, the results of which were absolutely harrowing on both a visual and visceral level.

Dubious though the means were, the end result was inarguable; in 2005, Joe's aura as a killer was entrenched, while Necro Butcher enjoyed a level of garbage notoriety not witnessed since the heyday of the form in the 1990s.
