10 Wrestlers Who Could Take Over From The Undertaker

Who will follow in the dead man's iconic footsteps?

When you think of The Undertaker, you think of an icon. The look. The entrance. The music. The catchphrase. The streak.

An unstoppable force in the ring, The Undertaker is one of two active wrestlers on the WWE roster (the other being Triple H) to have had an impact on the company that rivals the likes of Hogan, The Rock, Austin, and the like. He's be the last of a dying breed - though for the WWE's sake, they'd better hope not.

It's hard to replace him. You can't throw some creepy make-up or a costume on just anyone and hope that they'll inspire the stuff of nightmares in the wrestling world. The WWE tried that with the Boogeyman, and failed. However, Taker isn't all about gimmick. He's about dominance. You don't need a perfect clone of him. You need someone who exudes confidence. A wrecking machine, but someone who can tell a story both inside and outside of the ring.

In short, you need someone very, very special.

Believe it or not, there are more candidates than you might think to fill in once Taker rides off into the sunset. While it's doubtful they will have the streak at WrestleMania that Taker did, they can be that dominant force. The key factor is that every match they are in needs to be a spectacle, with a big event feel. And they need to have a big match at WrestleMania each and year, win or lose.

10. Triple H

If he's just going to bury people, he might as well do it in style.

This isn't an argument for Triple H to go dark and try to emulate the look/feel/style of the Deadman. It is, however, an argument to make his appearances few and far between, and mean something. That's one of the hallmarks of The Undertaker at the moment. Less is more.

Rather than go dark, however, with Triple H, make him a sort of equalizer character. Have him call out, torment, and goad a big name opponent each year. Said opponent should be someone that, if he's not going to put them over, he can at least put on a good match with at WrestleMania.

At this point, Triple H shouldn't be in the ring on a regular basis -and he has scaled his activity back. He is a fantastic performer, however, and has done an admirable job behind the scenes, to the surprise of many. With that in mind, and considering he still probably has a good five years or so worth of scattered appearances in him, it would be a way to transition Hunter Hearst Helmsley from on of the biggest heels inside the ring to a dominant character outside of it, preparing him to eventually take over from his father-in-law full time.
