10 Wrestlers Who Should Never Have Signed With WWE
9. Buff Bagwell
Buff Bagwell has a mixed legacy from his time in WCW. A five time WCW Tag Team Champion and former nWo member, his name is on the other hand forever linked to the Judy Bagwell on a Pole Match. This prime slice of peak Vince Russo madness saw Buff fighting Kanyon to save his mother who was perched upon a fork lift truck. Still, when WCW folded he’d done enough to be fondly remembered by fans.
Bagwell clearly felt he had more to give however, and a shot at WWE superstardom beckoned. Buff became one of only a few WCW stars to take a pay cut and accept a buyout on his AOL Time Warner contract. This superficially admirable move would prove to be misjudged.
Buff made his WWE television debut on July 2nd 2001. Bagwell faced Booker T in an infamous Raw main event which saw fans reject the pair of WCW wrestlers they had been trained for years to see as inferior and the enemy.
Booker would go on to fare much better in WWE with time. Bagwell was released a week later. He’d have been better off sitting at home, letting his contract run down.
