10 Wrestlers Who Will Never Be WWE Champion Again

Your time has come and passed.

To a lot of modern-day fans, a given wrestler's career counts for pretty much nothing unless they've lifted WWE's biggest prize at WrestleMania in front of 90,000 spectators.

CM Punk is probably partly culpable for this. He left the company in a blaze of pent-up frustration four years ago, one of his biggest grievances being that he never got the opportunity to headline the Showcase of the Immortals he felt he deserved (and, to be fair, he was probably right).

But this is also a silly way to judge one's accomplishments in the squared circle. Whether or not Eddie Guerrero claimed his one and only WWE Title win at No Way Out 2004 doesn't alter his ability between the ropes one iota. He would have been one of the all-time greats, regardless.

The point we're driving at here is that there's absolutely no shame in not winning the World Title, or - in the case of these 10 wrestlers - winning the World Title in a previous life, and settling into a (still pretty good) role somewhere further down the WWE pecking order.

They're still special to us, even if they probably won't be seeing their face emblazoned on the side of a production truck any time soon...

10. Triple H

There's a whole generation of wresting fans who grew up seeing nothing but Triple H in the Monday Night Raw main event. Triple H versus Goldberg. Triple H versus Randy Orton. Triple H versus Batista. Triple H versus Shawn Michaels. Triple H versus Shawn Michaels. Triple H versus Shawn Michaels (seriously, they fought a lot).

To them, the idea of The Game taking a back seat must seem like a completely alien one - and yet, sooner or later, it is going to become a reality (if it isn't already). He's simply past the point of being able to deliver quality matches month in, month out, however difficult a pill that may be to swallow.

A lack of ability between the ropes doesn't necessarily preclude you from winning one of WWE's world titles by itself - The Great Khali held the World Heavyweight Championship a decade ago, despite not knowing the rules of a battle royal - but, if you're the locker room's head honcho, there are standards to uphold, too.

Taking the WWE Title - and, with it, a potential main event spot from one of the array of younger talents waiting in the wings - would send out entirely the wrong message to the rest of the roster. HHH may like the limelight, but he's got his eye on the bigger picture now as well.
