One of the saddest moments in modern pro wrestling history occurred when Adam 'Edge' Copeland announced to the world that he was retiring from the ring. In 2011, the man's neck was in tatters, forcing him to live with the fact that he couldn't continue wrestling at a high level.
Merely cutting a promo and announcing his retirement wasn't the way Edge wanted to go out, that's for sure. During an interview with Sports Illustrated this week, the 'Rated-R Superstar' outlined his plans from the Spring of 2011 right through until WrestleMania XXVIII in 2012. It turns out the Canadian had his final year all mapped out.

10. Rey Mysterio Refused To Get Wrapped Up In WCW Politics
In the Spring of 2015, Rey Mysterio departed WWE and has since worked for the likes of AAA and Lucha Underground. Before revolutionising what it meant to be a high-flying wrestler in WWE, the masked man was part of WCW's incredible Cruiserweight division in the mid-1990's.
Joined by the likes of Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero, Mysterio helped redefine what it meant to be a Cruiserweight in North America. It'd be easy to imagine that Rey became wrapped up in the politics rife in WCW during that time, although that's something the legend was quick to dismiss during a new interview with the Huffington Post.
Whilst Jericho grew frustrated over his role in the company and eventually left for the WWF, Mysterio claims he was happy to do whatever WCW officials asked of him. At the time, he was just a young guy having fun and feels he was lucky to have friendships with top names such as Scott Hall and Kevin Nash.
Jericho didn't have that luxury, and it's interesting Rey reflects on the importance of his relationships in 2016.
