10 Wrestling Facts We Didn't Know Last Week (July 3)

Just what is the state of woman's wrestling right now?

News landed this past week that sales for the WWE WrestleMania 31 DVD were slower than in previous years, and much smaller than they were at this juncture in 2014 for the WrestleMania XXX set. In many ways, this shouldn't come as a huge surprise, because the advent of the WWE Network means that fans have access to the event, as well as literally hundreds of others, for less than the cost of the 'Mania 31 DVD package. WWE DVD sales in general are down, but surely this was expected when the Network started to catch on? It's pretty much a no-brainer for wrestling fans - pay a lump sum for one show, or buy one month of the subscription service and watch that, along with pretty much every Pay-Per-View ever, for less money. Better yet, the WWE Network is free throughout July, so fans can actually see WrestleMania for no cost at all. The way WWE are set up as a whole right now is strange for many fans, because it goes against the old way of TV being used as a vehicle to promote Pay-Per-View. Now, it's more of a case that TV goes hand-in-hand with the PPV 'specials' on the WWE Network. In this week's article, there's obviously a ton of WWE facts and news, but the women of wrestling take centre stage, as the ongoing debate rages on about their standing in WWE and other companies.
