10 Wrestling Returns That Would Improve WWE TV

Everybody loves a comeback.

As the respective returns over the last twelve months of Goldberg, Kurt Angle, The Hardy Boyz, and The Great Khali have proven, nothing gets wrestling fans on their feet quite like a sorely-missed performer making their triumphant comeback after months - nay, years - of anticipation.

And, despite WWE boasting what is an ostensibly bustling roster - many members of which are likely to miss out on a place on SummerSlam's stacked card - there are still a few vacant slots which need to be filled.

For example, whilst Monday Night Raw is gearing up for a mega world title fatal four-way in a couple of weeks, the lack of genuine top-level heels can't be ignored for much longer - particularly if Brock Lesnar is indeed planning to leave the company for a return to the Octagon after WrestleMania.

On SmackDown, the main event could also use at least one or two additions, with Cena - still officially a "free agent", in any event - only appearing sporadically and Jinder Mahal looking every inch the mid-carder hastily rushed into the role of WWE Champion that he is.

The dirt-sheets tell us that another "superstar shake-up" is on the horizon - but external recruitment could plug these gaps too.

10. Shelton Benjamin

It's an open secret that Shelton Benjamin was originally supposed to be back on WWE TV in the middle of last year, only for injury to curtail his preparation just as the company began airing vignettes for his return.

We've heard little about the prospect of a WWE comeback since, apart from Shelton himself taking to Twitter back in April to clarify that he was indeed a free agent (and therefore, presumably, back on the indie market).

Combine that with talk that the company is now looking at ways it can bring down production costs heading into the second half of the year, and it's probably unlikely we'll see Benjamin back in the immediate future.

Which is a shame - because there are many great matches waiting for him on SmackDown.
