10 Wrestling Storylines That Killed A Character

1. Vince McMahon - Death By Exploding Limo

You all knew this was coming.

In June 2007, Vince McMahon began behaving very strangely, voicing concerns that something terrible was going to happen to him. It all came to a head when he entered his limo at the end of Raw and the limo just randomly exploded.

Was it an accident? Was it murder? We will never know where this story may have gone, but it's fair to say it was one of the most ridiculous storylines that WWE ever attempted. Having Shane and Stephanie grieve on the air the following week made for uncomfortable viewing as they had to sell the death of their father.

Well, death it seems is not to be played with, because on the night Raw was supposed to host a Vince McMahon Memorial show, McMahon was forced to announce to the world, that Chris Benoit and his family had just been found dead in their home. Details were not yet known at the time and WWE aired a Benoit memorial instead. It was a decision they would regret.

The exploding limo story was abandoned, but it's still remembered as the furthest WWE has ever dared to push the boundaries of what they could get away with. Short answer is: they probably shouldn't.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
