McMahon doesn’t hate Christian – just his face. According to former WWE writer Alex Greenfield, McMahon wanted to censor Christian’s face with a blue dot because he felt it was “ratty.”

When your boss can’t stand your face, you’re unlikely to get the promotion.

However, real-life circumstances provided Captain Charisma with an opportunity. After WrestleMania XXVII, Edge announced his retirement due to life-threatening injuries, vacating the World Heavyweight Championship. As his best friend and former tag team partner, Christian was thrust into the spotlight, winning a battle royal to face Alberto Del Rio for the title at Extreme Rules 2011. Peeps around the world rejoiced as Christian defeated Del Rio to win the gold.

Hopefully he posed for at least five seconds of flash photography, because his reign ended just days later at the hands of Randy Orton.
