Professional wrestling is arguably the most paradoxically unpredictable predictable industry going, throwing up a number of moments and developments that we simply didn't see coming, moments that shock even the most clued-up of fans, sat next to others the audience saw coming a mile off.

2016 saw a number of firsts in WWE. WrestleMania 32 smashed a whole host of live event records, the first women's Hell in a Cell match was held, and a lot more besides. What firsts will happen in 2017? Will WWE continue to expand internationally, both geographically and within the industry itself? What is next for the women's revolution?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
