10 WWE Stars Who Weren't Allowed To Use Their Own Ideas

9. Randy Orton: Faction Idea

Factions are ace.

It absolutely isn't a coincidence that factions swarm the best night of the wrestling week. The formation of Chris Jericho's Inner Circle breeds excellent angles, character development, and several prospective matches with both the Elite and the Nightmare Family. Presented as a real force, factions make sense of - and create anticipation for - something as wild as Jake Hager Vs. Dustin Rhodes. That match, and the conflict behind it, in turn further drives the realism and tension behind the top programme of Cody Vs. Chris Jericho. It's a shared universe approach to storytelling, so of course it's going to create stars.

The Undisputed Era are a fantastic faction also. Their chemistry, charisma and in-ring excellence informs a similar narrative world, in which their bullsh*t catches up to them, in the end, and that end has been teased heavily from the start: it's a symbiotic relationship that will implode in a series of spectacular matches, one awesome day.

Vince McMahon doesn't much like factions, soz, and so he purportedly rejected Randy Orton's recent pitch to make permanent his association with the Revival.

A hasty why-not union on paper, formed to book some absorbing six-man tags throughout their respective feuds with the New Day, it was a great fit - they shared a natural chemistry, outlook and attitude - but Vince McMahon doesn't much like factions, soz.
