10 WWE Superstars Who Must Retire In 2016

Who should call it quits within the next 12 months?

In terms of new faces, it's been a great year for WWE. Though some have been used better than others, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Sasha Banks, Charlotte, The Lucha Dragons, Becky Lynch, and Neville have all made their debuts on the company's main roster, guaranteeing a strong talent pool in the years to come. NXT has also seen some incredible arrivals, including Apollo Crews, Samoa Joe, and Asuka. Regardless of all its faults, WWE has no shortage of superstars who can deliver, both in and out of the ring. For the company to truly take advantage of its new faces, though, some of the old ones need to step aside. WWE's most profitable period - the years from 1998 to 2001 - followed a time of great upheaval and turbulence in the roster. Barely any of the superstars of the time were present five or six years earlier, and the result was that WWE didn't have to worry about overexposing them. Today, things are different - WWE has long been the only game in town, and stagnant wrestlers have nowhere comparable to go. As a result, the company is full of stars who have been around for a decade or two, and fans feel every day of their tenures. It's time for some of them to call it a career. Furthermore, injuries have plagued some of WWE's top stars, decimating the main event scene. While some superstars - like former WWE Champion Seth Rollins - are expected to return at full capacity, the future isn't as bright for others. Like their staler counterparts, these men should also think about life away from the ring - simply for reasons of self-preservation. With those factors in mind, here are 10 WWE superstars who must retire in 2016 - including one whose farewell couldn't come at a better time...
